Our friends over at This Big City have just launched their #Urbanism Tumblr campaign and we’re super excited to support it!

This Big City say:

Over 50% of the world’s population lives in cities. By 2050, this is widely expected to reach 70%. Cities are undergoing unprecedented change and urbanism is one of the most crucial issues of our time.

Here at This Big City we think the important and exciting issue of urbanism should be brought to the attention of Tumblr users by promoting the urbanism tag to featured status.

Featured tags are selected based on volume of content and engagement with content, which is why we need Tumblr’s fantastic urbanism community to support this campaign. Please reblog this post and add the urbanism tag whenever you share content related to the topic!

Together we can build an engaging catalogue of content on the crucial issue of urbanism, hopefully resulting in the promotion of the urbanism tag to featured status. If we achieve this, the crucial issue of urbanism will land in the dashboard of millions of Tumblr users across the globe.

Within the project of renovation of Lower Marsh Market, London’s oldest market, Aberrant Architecture has just designed a blue multi-purposed mobile stall, reusing the structure of a trailer chassis. It is a local information point, with a covered seating area, where to talk and play chess, and a tiny stage for events.

We love the tiny stage!

Design firm Rietveld Landscape wire cut from styrofoam a giant image of their 2010 master plan vision for Amsterdam—a vision that took vacant, underutilized properties and turned them into the buildings blocks of a science driven creative economy. The installation recently went up in an expansive space at Centraal Museum. It’s a beautiful and reflective bird’s-eye look at one of many potential configurations for Amsterdam’s future built environment.

3Space Re:THINK, 1st-3rd May 2013

A celebration of how we think about and use resources in our towns, cities, and our lives, the 3Space Re:THINK festival was a fantastic three days of fun, learning, discussion and creativity.

Our 3Space Blackfriars community hub played host to over 50 organisations, running workshops, panels, talks, exhibitions and interactive experiences - everything from hands-on, collaborative art with 21 Artists, to town planning workshops with This Big City and getting the low-down on guerrilla gardening from the Edible Bus StopThanks to everyone who got involved - presenters, visitors, artists and general revellers; it was a truly inspiring couple of days!

3Space Wimbledon is an exciting new kind business hub dedicated to nurturing local businesses and non-profit organisations.  An 8-month incubator project offering charities, social enterprises and start-up businesses a unique, supported co-working space and meeting environment, 3Space Wimbledon is the first 3Space property to open its doors to start-ups as well as non-profit organisations.

The above picture explains how aquaponics works, and our latest post explains why it might be the future for food supply in Pacific Islands, and maybe cities too.

Come along to 3Space Re:THINK next week for an interactive talk with GrowUp, a start-up set to build an aquaponics farm in a shipping container, right in the heart of London. For free tickets, click here.
